The Analysis of Selected Legends of Alois Jirásek and the Problematics of their Illustrations

This bachelor thesis deals with selected literary tales from the collection of Ancient Bohemian Legens compiled by Alois Jirásek, first published in 1894. It also compares illustrations by Věnceslav Černý, Antonín Procházka, Jiří Trnka and especially Mikoláš Aleš. At the same time, the thesis briefly outlines Jirásek's life and work. The theoretical part is complemented by a practical part, which includes the artistic reinterpretation of the selected legend according to the inspiration of Mikoláš Aleš.

Gustav Leutelt, a poet of the Jizera Mountains

Special attention is paid on describing the Jizera Mountains that play a pivotal role in his creation. The first chapter formulates the subject matter and establishes the goals of the thesis. The second chapter takes a brief look at the Leutelt's life and his writing. The third chapter covers introduction of specific works from three main areas of his art, which were fictional prose, legends and natural works. The final chapter summarizes the results and insights of the thesis.

Annotation: This Bachelor's thesis aims to reconstruct the historical realities contained in the old Prague legends, which were written down by the writer Popelka Biliánová (legal name Marie Biliánová, born as Popelková). Bachelor's thesis identifies the specific imprint of historical events on selected tales, monitors the development of the plot throughout times and conclusions about contemporary thinking which is reflected in the final text of old legends. The analysis of the primary sources contains old legends with transcendental elements, especially revenants. Life after Life. The Revenants in the Early Modern Period Bohemia Lands.

The master's thesis deals with one of the specifics of the cultural history of the Czech lands in the Early Modern period - i. e. the general perception of the afterlife (approximately between 1500 and 1800) and revenant issues. A revenant is meant originally a human being, who, after his death, for various reasons returns to the light of the living world, with exhibits of material (revived corpses, zombies, vampires, fexts) and immaterial (spirits, white ladies, wild hunting). In this respect, the main source are Czech demonological legends. One part of the study is to evaluate the social, religious and cultural aspects that had effect on what was said above in the specific historical period. The main emphasis is placed on the individual cases of revenants in the Czech lands, preserved in historical sources, as well as comparison with the same case in other European countries. The study will also focus on the description of biographies of historical personalities, drawing conclusions about what may have caused the conviction of being revenant.

The work discusses the oral tradition of the tribe on the background of the regional development in the last two centuries. The Kotas used to live symbiotically with a few other local tribes with whom they developed a unique system of barter trade and services. The microregion remained isolated until new settlers started to arrive from the valley (in the beginning of 19th century). The arrival of the people from the valley and of the English people in the course of the last two hundred years caused a significant change of all aspects of life in the Blue Mountains: economic, social, cultural and ecological. The diploma thesis compares the efficiency of teaching Old Czech and Moravian Tales by method of structured drama comparing with the efficiency of frontal teaching of the same topic. The research aim is focused on the comparison of learning results of pupils who were taught by the method of structured drama with the results of pupils who were taught by the method of frontal teaching. Furthermore, the diploma thesis finds out if structured drama helps pupils to better understand the negotiation of other people. The theoretical part includes the definition of drama education, the goals of drama education, the principles of drama education, a description of drama education as a method of teaching, and evaluation in drama education. The main focus from the methods and techniques of drama education is on structured drama. The theoretical part is also dedicated to frontal teaching - it is basic characteristics, a brief history, frontal teaching in modern schools, plus the advantages and disadvantages of frontal teaching. Image of the Czech Prehistory in Historiography and Fiction of the 19th

This thesis concentrates on the capturing of the development trends of evens of the representation of the Czech prehistory in the fiction and of its conception in the historiography. The term 'Czech prehistory' is approached in terms of the Czech tales, with emphasis laid on the character of Princess Libuše. The span of the thesis reaches from the Englightenment critic of Václav Hájek z Libočan's Kronika česká (Czech chronicle) by Gelasius Dobner to the argument about the authenticity of the Rukopis královédvorský (Manuscript from Dvůr Králové) and the Rukopis zelenohorský (Manuscript from Zelená hora) in the 1880s. Both cases resulted in reassessment of the relation to the stories from the Czech prehistory by the contemporary society. The first chapter, after introducing the topic, deals with critique of the Václav Hájek's Chronicle by Gelasius Dobner, which changed the relation to the Czech prehistory in the historiography of the Czech coutries, and the philosophy of Johann Gottfried Herder, which opened the way to the establishment of the modern nations, based on the language.
